NYFW Recap: Gita Omri
Hey Glamazonians!
September 9-14 was New York Fashion Week and I had the pleasure of attending a few shows! So over the next few posts I will be recapping my NYFW experience and sharing my thoughts on the shows.
My first official show was Gita Omri which was on Friday, Sept 9. After work, I raced into the city to meet my girl Kamrin, @naturallykam, and head to the show. I was excited for this show because the brand is based on the premise of size inclusivity in fashion. Their goal is to bring joy back into fashion and shopping by getting rid of the notion that people should belong to one size group.
Here are my thoughts on the show:
The garments were beautiful! I could truly see the everyday woman rocking each of the looks in their daily lives. My favorite elements of the show were the bold and bright colors, the lightweight and flowing fabrics, and the elegant lace detailing!!!
However, I do think there is room for growth. I was expecting to see more representation on the runway. Each design was seen twice on the runway by a “standard” model and a “plus size” model but I wished to see all different type of models on the runway. Often times, height is left out of the size conversation…. let alone being tall. Yes, I know “standard” models are tall, but often times they aren not 6’2” and a size 12 with a 37” inseam like myself.
Overall, I enjoyed the garments and I love that the brand is taking steps to be size inclusive, but I also want tit to be known that height is also a size that needs to be included as well.
What are your thoughts on the show?
Keep calm and GLAM on 🤗😘,
Solange “The Glamazon”
